Expanded Core Curriculum Day: Exploring the City

Ākonga and their RTVs from BLENNZ Dunedin and Invercargill joined together on 12th June 2025 for an Expanded Core Curriculum Day with an Orientation and Mobility focus.

Braving the cold and wet, the group walked to the bus stop and caught the bus into town. Each ākonga was given enough money to pay for their bus fare and a drink at the mall. Ākonga learned about light-controlled crossings, Barn Dance crossings and landmarks for orientation. The group then explored the escalators and elevators before completing a scavenger hunt in pairs and meeting for lunch.
