My name is Sue, and I am the Assistant Principal National Services. I lead four national teams: the National Assessment team, the BLENNZ Early Learning Service (BELS) team, the DOM team, and the Immersion team, supporting coordinated services and outcomes across our network.
My background is in early childhood education, and I have worked in many Kindergartens across South Auckland in both a Teacher and Head Teacher role. I have training and experience in both Early Intervention and Vision Education and have been fortunate enough to have worked 25 of my teaching years with BLENNZ.
I enjoy providing professional learning opportunities so that Resource Teachers’ Vision (RTVs) have the knowledge and skills to assess functional vision and provide relevant suggestions to support learners’ access to the curriculum is an area of focus for me.
Two areas I am passionate about are Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI) and Ākonga who have Learning Needs that are Complex. It is a privilege to connect with ākonga and their whānau and learn about what their aspirations are for their tamariki, and how the National Assessment Service (NAS) can help towards achieving these.
